FAIR ISLE - SHETLAND
International Lighthouse Weekend 2012
An all YL expedition
From 16th to 21st August a group of YL-operators from
Shetland, UK mainland, Netherland, Italy and Norway
will be transmitting from the lighthouse "Southlight" - also called "Skadan" on Britain's most remote island - Fair Isle.
The YLs will participate in the International Lighthouse Weekend - Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August.
The group has been given the call
GB2YLS

We hope to get a lot of radio contacts while on this special island and hopefully many of them will be from other YLs.

This year's International Lighthouse Weekend will take place on the 20th - 21st August.

Nicky MM5YLO and OM Tony (GM0GFL) will be on Shetland on Eshaness Lighthouse the whole of August with their induvidual calls and will also activate Eshaness Lighthouse on amateur radio on the lighthouse weekend with call GB2ELH.

We hope to make contact with Nicky from SYLRA meeting in Finland. But do keep an eye out for her from Eshaness Lighthouse whole of August.

Greenland - YL expedition 2010 16th-20th September
OX6YL
From the 16th to the 20th September 2010 there will be 6 YLs
from different countries leaving for Greenland to activate
an amateur radio station from Kangerlussuaq with the callsign OX6YL.
A web site will be published in the near future.
We hope to hear from many YLs when the time comes.

The latest news (February) about the SYLRA meeting in Norway

On behalf of the organizers of SYLRA meeting in Norway 2009, we would like to invite you and your OM to the SYLRA 2009 meeting.
The program is not fully decided yet, but we will later this year be putting up a web site where you can have all the details about the program.
This invitation is now being sent out, firstly to the members before being published world wide for others to join if they should be interested.
To help you plan for the meeting, we are happy to inform you that the actual meeting will take place on Kolbotn which is just outside Oslo (the capital of Norway) and this is in the region of Ingrid LA8FOA and Unni LA6RHA’s qths.

Dates for the meeting are set from
Thursday 3rd September (arrival) till Sunday 6th September 2009(departure).

During the SYLRA meeting in Østersund 2007, many of the yls came with wishes about a SYLRA Yl ham radio “expedition” in connection with a meeting.
We have taken that into account and are planning such an event in connection with the SYLRA meeting in Norway. So set aside some time after the meeting if you want to join us going to a part of our country which is easy accessed, but still wild and special. We will come back to this with more information later on.
